Producer's description
Of all the French wine regions, the Loire produces the greatest variety of wines. The most famous areas in the Loire Valley are Sancerre and Vouvray. In Touraine, vineyards have existed since the 4th century, occupying about 4,500 acres on the northern bank of the Loire, east of Tours. It was here that the Bredif family acquired Château les Roches in 1893. In 1919, Marc Bredif took over the management of the estate and founded the Marc Bredif Wine House here. The first Bredif wines were born on the family estate, which, thanks to their exceptional taste characteristics, quickly won recognition first in France and then throughout the world. The company's vineyards are located in the Loire Valley - the third most important wine region in France, it is also called the "royal garden of France". After all, it was here, on the picturesque banks of the Loire, that kings loved to spend time in their summer royal residences since ancient times, and the so-called "summer wines" were created.
Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, who bought the vineyards in 1980, reconstructed and modernized the premises for vinification and wine storage. The range of wines produced here meets high world standards. Today, the Bredif house continues to produce traditional Loire light, fruity wines that can be drunk both young and are perfect for long aging and only get better with age. Thus, according to authoritative French publications, the sparkling Vouvray from Marc Bredif 1947 is among the ten best wines of the 20th century.
