There is an interesting story associated with the name of the wine Nine Popes (Nine Popes). When Charlie created the wine, he was faced with the task of finding an interesting name. Being in love with the wine valley of the Rhone (France), especially in the famous appellason Chateauneuf du Pape, he decided to link the name of the wine with it. For this, Charlie went on a little trick to avoid lawsuits from France. But his knowledge of French was not strong, and he found that the Chateauneuf du Pape means "lock Nine Popes." In fact, Chateauneuf du Pape is translated as "The Castle of the new Pope," because in the 13th century this place was the seat of the papacy alternative, and in many languages, the word neuf (Chateau neuf - «new castle") means both "nine" and " new one.
