Interesting Facts
Craft Black Mallaskosken Ale, Black Imperial Rye is a tribute to rye that has been feeding the Finnish people for centuries. In the manufacture of beer, only natural ingredients are used: rye from the northern fields in Pohjanmaa, a sufficient amount of Simkoe hop hops and barley malt of Pale El, Crystal, chocolate, Vienna, Black and smoked. Despite the high strength, the alcohol in the ale's taste is well veiled, and the hop bitterness is balanced with pleasant sweetness.
Producer's description
Mallaskosken Brewery (or Mallaskoski) was founded in 1921 by Johann Wlenius, who embodied his passion for brewing. The farmland and the harsh northern climate inspired him to create original recipes for beer. The first beer Wallenius brewed in the corner of the old laundry. In 1928, Wallenus decided to buy a plot near the sandy beach and build a plant in Mallaskoski. The plant began to produce lemonade and other soft drinks, as well as beer, which by that time had become famous not only in Finland, but also abroad. Then, at the time of Prohibition, the brewery was closed, and in 1999 enthusiasts revived production again. Today, respecting the traditions, Malaskosken beer is made by hand, without preservatives, using the same yeast and with the same incredible attitude to life.
