Tasting Notes


Wines rich crimson color.


Pleasant soft fleshy wine with a fruity character of blueberry, raspberry and hints of mixed herbs and currants. Good structure, silky tannins and a fresh, clean finish.


The wine has aromas of red berries, plums and a hint of vanilla dry.


Wine is well served with meat dishes, pizzas and pastas.

Interesting Facts

A wonderful wine Hasard Hill Shiraz is made from the best grapes that grow in the vineyards in the south-western part of Western Australia, mainly in the regions of Geographe, Blackwood and Great Sausern. Fermentation is carried out in closed containers, grapes from different parts of fermented separately. Partially matured wine in stainless steel vats, partly in oak casks. Hasard Hill Shiraz 2007 bottled in April 2009. Additional ratings: Hazard Hill Shiraz wine in 2005 won 91 points from Tyson Stelzer and 84 points from Ray Jordan; Hazard Hill Shiraz 2001 awarded 5 stars in the Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide.

The name of Plantagenet (Plantagenet):

1. British royal dynasty that ruled from 1154 to 1399 (starting with Henry II to Richard II). Its name comes from the nickname his father Henry, Geoffrey of Anjou, who always wore a sprig of broom (Lat. Planta genista).

2. Plantagenet - the region surrounding the town of Mount Barker, north of the port of Albany, in the south-west of Western Australia. Like many other local attractions, he was named by British settlers.

Plantagenet Wines - this is the first winery, founded in the great wine-growing region Sausern Great (Great Southern) Western Australia. In 1968, an immigrant from England, Tony Smith, saw the potential of local land ambush the first vineyards in his farm Bouverie vines Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. After a few years at a nearby farm were posazhany Riesling vines, as well as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

In 1974 Plantagenet Wines produces the first vintage. In 1975, not far from Mount Barker bought the building that was converted into a winery, is still located here. Producing products quickly gained a reputation for elegant, complex and fine wines.

Expansion of vineyards continued until the end of the 80s, in the south of Mount Barker was founded vineyard aptly named Rocky Horror. And finally, in 1999, the vineyard was planted Rosetta. In 2000, the winery Plantagenet Wines was bought by Lionel Samson and Son, which is the oldest family business in Australia, as well as a respected distributor of wines and spirits. In 2004, the winery celebrated its 30th anniversary. Although since the first plantings took a long time, and Great Sausern divided into 5 sub-regions, Plantagenet Wines remains the driving force behind this unique aimed at quality wine region in Australia.

Today wine Plantagenet Wines regularly receive high ratings from eminent experts and popular wine publications.
