Interesting Facts

Wine "Pianrosso" named after the vineyard Pianrosso economy Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona. The wine is created from grapes Sangiovese Grosso, the berries of which are collected when they reach the maximum maturity. Vinification process "Pianrosso" consists of fermentation at a controlled temperature and a three-year aging in barrels of Slovenian oak. Three additional months of aging in bottle makes the taste of the wine even more versatile, bright and velvety, which is especially good feeling after decanting wine.
Vintage 2008 is recommended to drink during the period 2015-2025.

The modern history of the winery Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona - ownership of several generations of families Ciaccia and Piccolomini - began with 1985, when the castle and its grounds became the property of the family Bianchini. Today, agriculture occupies about 200 acres of land, where about 40 hectares brought to luxury vineyards. "Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona" is widely recognized reputation for producing high quality wines, as confirmed by numerous ratings wine critics and agencies.

Producer's description

The vineyards of Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona have a long history that began in the 19th century. After the death of the bishop, the palace and the surrounding estate were sold at auction in accordance with Italian law, and on September 16, 1868, they were bought by the Countess Eve Bernini Serretani. On December 31, 1877, Countess Serretani sold all the property to the Tzachi family from Castelnuovo del Abate. After the marriage between Count Alberto Piccolomini, the diocese of the bishop became the Palazzo Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona

In 1985, the Countess Elda Cacci bequeathed all the property to the farmer Giuseppe Bianchini. At that time, she for many years introduced the most advanced methods of wine production, increasing the quantity, quality of wines and opening exports around the world. Giuseppe, unfortunately, died in February 2004, leaving the business to his son and daughter Paolo and Lucia. Today brother and sister passionately continue the work of their father

Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona manor is located on the southeast slope of the municipality of Montalcino, near the medieval village of Castelnuovo del Abate and the famous Romanesque Abbey of Sant'Antimo, which dates back to the 11th century

The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona has two wine cellars: a historic wine cellar for aging the most prestigious wines. It is located in the basement of the Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Palace of the 17th century; a new wine cellar, near the village of Castelnuovo del Abate, now the headquarters of the company.
