Interesting Facts

The Angelus Chateau is located on a small road leading from the parking lot at the Maison du Vin in Saint-Emilion to Château Canon (Canon). Vineyard Chateau The Angelus is a collection of various plots of land, gathered together the family Bouar de Laforêt, one of the oldest in Saint-Emilion, and exists in its present form since the late 1970s. In the 1980s. as a consultant was invited to the famous Bordeaux oenologist Michel Rolland. He insisted that all the wine was aged in small farms oak barrels, up to this point Chateau Angelus did not know about any oak aging at all. Since then, the wine of Chateau The Angelus is aged 18 - 22 months in 100% new oak barrels. Lactic fermentation takes place in small oak barrels that can only afford small estates with significant means. The results of this innovation was so stunning that in 1996, Chateau Angelus has made to improve the status of premier grand cru.

Vineyard Chateau l'Anzhelyus located on clay-limestone soils. The dominant grape variety is Merlot (60%), the average age of the vines 35 years. Wine is very powerful, rich, yet elegant with characteristic warm and spicy tones. Second wine farm - Le Carillon de l'Angelus (Le Carillon de l'Anzhelyus). Owners winery: the fourth generation of the family de Bouard de Laforest cousins Hubert de Bouard de Laforest (Hubert de Bouar de Laforest) and Jean-Bernard Grenie (Jean-Bernard Grenier).
