Chateau Pavie - the largest estate Premier Grand Cru Class (Class B) in Saint-Emilion. It is located on the site of the old peach orchard. The grapes are grown from the 4th century AD. Today it is owned by Gerard Perez - he bought the Chateau in 1998, rebuilding and reforming the cellar and winery building.
Now Chateau produces about 15,000 cases of wine a year from such grapes as Merlot, Kraberne Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Age of vines about 45 five years, the soil - are different in nature, there are clay and limestone, and sand. In addition to red wine Château Pavie Saint Emilion are also produced rose wine La Rose de Pavie. Pavie Wines cause mixed reactions from critics - some shocked vivid style of these wines, other accused Gerard Perez insufficient attention to the local terroir.
