Interesting Facts
White sweet wine Chateau Pion, 2011 is made from grapes of three varieties - Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grown in appellasone Monbazyak. The vineyard is located in the southern part of the valley of the Dordogne River and is one of the oldest in the region. The grapes are harvested late, to allow the berries to dial maximum ripeness and sugar concentration. using botrytised (noble rot affected) grapes for wine production. Fermentation and aging of wine took place in stainless steel tanks.
By the end of the XIX century wine appellasona Monbazyak successfully competed in the wine market with Sauternes. However, the unprecedented proliferation of pests in the last decade of the XIX century led to a decline in the quality of wines in the region and the loss of its position in the ranking list. The middle of the XX century was marked by the revival of wine Monbazyaka. Today, they have gained popularity again, largely due to the optimal ratio of price and quality.
