Wine opaque ruby-purple color.
The wine has a pleasant taste of berries with hints of spice. Lovely tannins and a long finish.
The wine has a discreet but promising bouquet of sweet black fruit, mixed with weak notes of tobacco, licorice and hints of leather.
The wine goes well with meat dishes.
Interesting Facts
Lyafon Chateau Rocher has a long history, the first mention of the castle date back to 1650, the name Lyafon was added in the same year after marrying Antoinette de Gilmot and Etienne Lyafona. In 1720, their heir Pierre Lyafon already known as a good winemaker. Through the efforts of the owners, the Château develop and expand, and that in 1855 he was awarded the Grand Cru Class 4. The estate belonged to the family Lyafon-Roche until 1960, when it was bought by Guy Tesseron that over the next 10 years to modernize production and improve the quality of vineyards, what has made significant strides in the characteristics of wines. Today winery Lyafon-Roche continues to produce high-quality wines, carefully tending the vineyards and continuing the tradition of their ancestors. The name "Roche" comes from the French "roches", which means "rock", their particles strewn whole earth Lyafon-Roche.
The farm produces two wines, the main one being Lyafon Chateau Rocher (Saint-Estèphe) 4th Grand Cru Classe, produced from grapes harvested from the oldest vines vineyard. This wine is fully displays the characteristics of the terroir, being rich and concentrated, with aromas of black fruit in most vintages. Unique softness and expressiveness inherent in the region of Saint-Estephe, achieved through the Merlot grapes, which also makes the taste of wine and rounded warming.
