Wine of deep plum-ruby color.
The wine has a rich, juicy fruit flavors with a good structure.
Sweet aroma of the wine is rich and smoky herbal notes mixed with notes of incense, spices, cherries and earth.
The wine goes well with meat dishes.
Interesting Facts
Grapes for wine Château Grand Pontet going entirely by hand, then made a double sorting of raw materials (in the vineyard and in the cellar) and malolactic fermentation. Wine goes excerpt from 14 to 18 months in oak barrels (60-80% of which are new). Every year it produces about 50 000 bottles of Chateau Grand-Pontet.
Château Grand Pontet covers an area of 14 hectares in the region of Saint-Emilion, it was originally owned by the company and Burton Hestia (Barton & Guestier), while in 1980 it did not acquire Gerard and Dominique Beco (Gerard and Dominique Becot), who also own the neighboring economy Chateau Beau-Sejour-Beco (Beau-Sejour-Becot). At present, the management is in the hands of Chateau Sylvia Pork-Beco (Sylvie Pourquet-Becot), which produces a constant improvement of the vineyard, paying special attention to environmental issues. The farm produces two wines, first and foremost Chateau Grand Pontet, second - Dauphin de Grand Pontet.
Vineyards Grand Pontet is located on the famous plateau of limestone, to the west of the village of Saint-Emilion and the vines are planted Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). The average age of the vines is 35 years.
