Château Sitran was built in the XIII century, the Marquis de Donnissan. The owners of the castle were of royal blood and found a kinship with the French monarchy. For several centuries, the castle passed from hand to hand and eventually fell into disrepair and neglect. In the XVIII century the castle was rebuilt and the historic estates were only defensive ditches. Then it was sold to the family of Clauzel, after which the vineyards fell into disrepair, and quite possibly would have disappeared if not bought Chateau Sitran brothers Miailhe. After that, the vineyards were revived, and the winery has returned to its former glory. To date, the castle Sitran undoubtedly a landmark class producer of wines in the Cru Bourgeois O'Medok.
The main part of the vineyards Chateau Sitran grows on gravelly soils of high quality. 90 hectares of vineyards are divided between the two grape varieties - 58% Cabernet Sauvignon vines are employed, 42% - Merlot. Vintage is made by hand, with careful selection. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vessels of 21 to 28 days. The wine is aged in barrels, 40% of which - new.
