In the beginning of the XIX century, the famous animal artist and a great admirer of fine French wine John Lewis Brown, who had a Scottish descent, bought the estate in the Medoc vineyards. In memory of home, he built a house in the Tudor style, which stands out for its originality among other Chateau and is now surrounded by a wonderful English park. In 1843 the estate was sold to the banker Gromard.
