Wine deep magenta color.
The wine has a taste of sweet tannins and refreshing acidity.
The wine has an intense aroma with clear notes of minerals, tones likritsy, blueberries and fallen leaves.
The wine goes well with meat dishes and large game, as well as cheeses.
Interesting Facts
Monserbal - the mineral wines of Palacios, it aromas of blueberry and lingonberry infused with a light touch of silicon, which adds some blame "flavor." All this is thanks to the unique terroir, which in fact is almost sanserskim silicon. The vineyards are located on a hillside and Monserbal are five small plots with a total area of 0.8 hectares. Vine age comes here up to 100 years. Ageing potential of this wine - 10-12 years.
Alvaro Palacios did not immediately become a winemaker, but quickly realized the position and prospects of shale terraces with old and abandoned vineyards near the town of GALLARDO, on the border with Galicia, the first time he saw them even when traveling around the Spanish village for sale French barriques at the end of the 1980s . After the resounding success of the Priory, Palacios, along with his nephew Ricardo Pérez studying in Bordeaux, come to grips with a new project (called "Heirs of Jose Palacios" - in honor of his father and grandfather Alvaro Ricardo), acquiring more than a hundred small sites (large vineyards in the small Bierzo almost no) with autochthonous varieties Mencia vines. Alvaro Palacios practicing biodynamic winemaking, trusts shutter its concentrated wines only French barriques and bottles without filtering. The first vintages 1999, 2000 and especially 2001. showed that Mencia, possibly better than the others reflects the terroir of Spain and has a great future.
