In the 19th century, the ancestors of Aldo Conterno emigrated to Argentina, but after a few years, have been forced to go back to Italy. It was then that Giovanni Conterno brought his family into a small winemaking farm of his father in Monforte d'Alba, where he began to help him to make wine. Since joining Giovanni business significantly increased the production of wine, which was sold in casks not only in Piemonte and Liguria, but also in America, thanks to the relatives who stayed in Argentina. In accordance with market demand Conterno family felt the need to create Barolo, which would be made exclusively from the best vintages. In 1920 was released the first wine Barolo. In the 30s Giovanni handed over the reins of the business to his son Giacomo, who continued the tradition of his father. In subsequent years, his sons Giovanni and Aldo began to help his father run a business. In the mid-50s, Aldo decided to go to America to create a wine business and helping his uncle, who lived in California. This period in the United States has been very constructive and unforgettable for Aldo but for some reason he had to leave the country and return to Italy in the family business.

In 1961, Giacomo fully passed on to his sons a thriving and prestigious business in the Langhe area. And yet, five years of experience in the United States sparked a desire Aldo establish their own business. Having spent considerable time with his brother, he decided to fulfill his dream. In 1969, he bought a farm and founded the estate Favot Poderi Aldo Conterno.

Latin saying In Medio Stat Virtus, which means "truth in the middle" - this is the philosophy of the company, which is a combination of tradition and innovation.

Poderi Aldo Conterno is located in Bussi, Monforte d'Alba in the countryside, in the heart of Barolo.

Currently, the company's wine made exclusively from grapes from its own vineyards with an area of 25 hectares. 80% Nebbiolo vines grow, other varieties - Dolcetto, Frazee and Chardonnay. Vineyards (Romirasko, Chicano, Colonnella) are located at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level on the southern and south-eastern exposure. Soil clay and limestone, rich in calcium and iron. Wine producing vineyards with these perfectly express the nuances of varieties Nebbiolo and inherent spicy notes talk about the uniqueness of the soil.

Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel containers at controlled temperatures. Barolo wines are kept only in traditional large Slavonian oak barrels, the other wines are matured in French oak barrels.

Aldo has created a new style of Piedmont wines - fresh and bright, while retaining their unique, true Piedmontese character. Thanks to the hard work in the vineyards, careful monitoring of and compliance with the traditions are great wines of outstanding quality.
