Taittinger, Brut Reserve - a blend created from Chardonnay wines (40%) and Pinot (60%). A feature of this champagne is the high proportion of Chardonnay, which is rare among sparkling wines. Grapes are harvested from about 50 different vineyards, matured to perfection. Champagne is aged in the cellars of 3 to 4 years to reach full maturity and development of the aromatic potential.
In 1734, Jacques Fournet, the seller of sparkling wines, has created a company that would later be called the "Taittinger". He was engaged in the sale of wines produced in the beginning of the XVIII century Benedictine Abbey of Hautvillers, Pierry, Verzy and Saint-Nicaise in Reims, who owned the best vineyards in Champagne. They cultivated vines and producing sparkling wines. Jacques Fournet company flourished throughout the XIX century. After World War I the company acquires the residence of the XIII century, the so-called "House of the Counts of Champagne." It was the home Thibault IV, a famous feudal medieval France during the reign of Louis IX. Thibault IV was King of Navarre, the owner of the Abbey of Saint-Nicaise and the last Count of Champagne. He was also a famous poet and musician, has been dubbed the "Thibault Minstrel." His muse was Blanche of Castile, Queen of France, wife of Louis VIII. Fleeing from unrequited love, Thibault IV fled from France, joining the crusade to the Holy Land. On the way back, Thibault IV brought from Cyprus vines that were the ancestors of this Chardonnay company "Taittinger". In the early XX century, companies merge and Tetenzhe Fournet, who came from Lorraine, who take control of the production of sparkling wines. Pierre Tetenzhe in 1932 acquires Chateau Marketter, XVIII century mansion, known for its vineyards, which were planted with Chardonnay and Pinot. Pierre decided that Chardonnay is the dominant brand in Tetenzhe, bringing lightness, grace, elegance and variety of flavors.
Produced House Tetenzhe champagne fairly quickly acquired the status of great wines. On the label of each bottle emblazoned coat of arms Thibault IV.
