The wine-making enterprise for the production of spirits "Dionysus" is located on the sunny shores of the southern Crimea, in the city of Simferopol. The company produces vodka, fortified wines, dry, semi-dry, sweet wines and other spirits. She is the heir of the "Christophorov's Wine Trade Association" founded in 1853.
At the time of the Crimean company, large cellars were dug in the vicinity of Simferopol under the order of the military department of the Russian Empire. However, they quickly fell into disrepair, as the groundwater was very close, and gunpowder in the cellars was constantly damp. In 1853, all these cellars were bought together with the adjoining lands by the merchant of the first guild Georgy Nikolaevich Khristoforov for storage and aging of wines. This was the basis of the "Association of the Wine Trade of Christophores and Co." . An indication of the high quality of the wines produced by the Association was the numerous prizes and awards awarded to them in 1904-1911: the Grand Prix in Paris, the Belgian Order, the Grand Prize in Italy. After the death of G.N. Khristoforov's company began to deal with his three sons: Gleb, George and Xenophon.
In 1921 the enterprise was nationalized and transformed into the Simferopol experimental winery No. 1. The production of the plant was very popular, and the high quality is evidenced by the fact that in 1945 the best vintage wines of this plant were sent to Livadia to the Crimean conference of the leaders of the three countries of the anti-Hitler coalition. In the late seventies and early eighties of the XX century, the plant produced up to 35 different alcoholic beverages. In 1990, the winery "Dionysus" was established on the basis of the plant. The assortment of the enterprise today is more than 50 names of table and seasoned wines, sherry, port and vermouth, which repeatedly deserve awards at tasting competitions of different levels.
