Wine "Pian del Masso", Chianti DOCG, 2011
Wine bright garnet color.
A full-bodied wine has a rounded fruit flavors with spicy notes of ripe red berries, cherries and plums.
The aroma intertwined berry tones with light cherry aromas of wild flowers and fresh herbs.
The wine goes well with poultry, grilled or stewed meat, cheeses.
Richness, fullness and power of red wine "Pian del Masso" is very similar to its prototype, after whom it is named - a massive rock, located on the farm Melini. Interesting style of wine, in which saturation and the power coming from the dominant grape in the blend of Sangiovese Grosso, rounded soft creamy notes, due to the presence in the blend of Bordeaux grape varieties (including, and Merlot).
Unusual method of vinification wine "Pian del Masso": part of the traditional grape passes for red varieties fermentation maceration at controlled temperature for 10 days and frequent pumping of the must in order to ensure a smoother taste and fragrant aroma. Another, smaller part of the grape vines taken from a "overripe" state, is placed in the fermenters that already have almost finished wine. Fermentation is resumed and the result is a very slow and steady fermentation, which gives the "rich", structured and very complex product that can be stored for a long time.
Melini wine house was founded in 1705 on the outskirts of Florence, in the village of Pontassieve. Melini wine immediately became famous for their high quality, but until the middle of the XIX century they were delivered only to the domestic market, while in 1865, Alfredo Laborel Melini has not created a woven straw wafer bottle, allowing safe transport of wine abroad.
In 1877, the Chamber of Commerce of Florence House Melini awarded a diploma and a gold medal for the development and strengthening of the vast markets of Tuscan wines abroad. House Melini has confirmed its excellent reputation, and still produces some of the best-selling wines in the world. At the beginning of the XX century Melini to expand their holdings and bought about 200 hectares of vineyards in the Chianti Classico, and built a new winery in Gadzhiano di Poggibonsi. Melini is a part of GRUPPO ITALIANO VINI ("Group of Italian wines").
