"Messias Selection" Tinto, Bairrada DOC is a red dry wine, in the production of which winemakers use ripe grapes of Baga and Touriga Nacional cultivars grown in the vineyards of the Barrajda region. Soils consist of limestone and clay. After harvesting, the berries are subjected to vinification, passing with strict temperature control. Wine will make an excellent pair of dishes from meat and cheeses.
Vinhos Messias company was founded in 1926, its founder - Messias Baptista - served as head of the company until 1973, after which control passed to his heirs. The company produces high-quality wines from several regions: Dao, Bairrada, Douro, Vinho Verde, Beyras, Terras do Sado and Wine do Porto. The company is also known for its high quality sparkling wines and aged brandies.
Messias is based at Mealhada town, a small town in central Portugal, in the heart of the Bairrada region. Here, the company owns more than 160 hectares of land, on which lie the vineyards. In Ferradoza (Douro Valley), Messias owns 200 hectares of land, 110 hectares of which are occupied by vineyards for the production of port wine and Quinta do Douro. The company expands, buys new vineyards and carefully ensures that in the production were involved in only the most advanced technology.
