Wine opaque garnet and black.
The wine has a balanced taste with hints of fruit, leather, spices, coffee, espresso and toasty oak, with soft tannins and a long, soft finish. On the palate the wine is felt volume and depth inherent in Maremma wines.
The wine has a scent with notes of blackberry, minerals and hints of fresh grass.
The wine goes well with meat and game - roasted or stewed, as well as with poultry (pigeon or pheasant).
"Ilatraia" - an intense and complex red wine, produced in a modern style and perfectly expresses its terroir. Used for the production of wine from the vineyards of the best crop farming La Brankayya in Maremma. They are located to the north-east of Grosseto, 13 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea in the region of Morellino di Scansano. Vineyards on the southern and south-western exposure with a total area of 40.5 hectares located at an altitude of 80-180 meters above sea level. Stocking density in the vineyards transplanted in 1998, is about 6100 vines / ha.
For the production of wine "Ilatrayya" crop is harvested from late August to late September. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 30-32 ° C for 18 days. After that, the wine is aged 18 months in French oak barriques, 50% of which - new. Followed by aging in bottles for 4 months in the cellars of the economy. "Ilatrayya" has excellent storage capacity - 15-20 years.
Estate Brankayya uniting two names - Branca and Poppy, since 1981 has a couple from Switzerland - Brigitte and Bruno Widmer. In the production of wine they cooperate with Martin Widmer Cronenberg. Since 1983, when one of the wines received the first prize in a local competition, the production are successful. Today wine "La Brankayya" are among connoisseurs of classical and production is based on principles such as the search for self-identity and commitment to quality.
Martin is responsible for the management of the company, while Barbara, an experienced winemaker, is responsible for the production of wines. Wine consultant is the famous Dr. Carlo Ferrini. Today Brankayya produces four wines: "Il Blue," "Chianti Classico", "Tre" and "Ilatrayya."
