Chateau Beshevel dates back to the 17th century, when the land estates acquired Duke Jean-Louis de la Valette Nogaret and built here his ancestral castle. Chateau emblem to this day is a ship on the nose which depicts a mythical beast Griffin, rescue chariot of the god of wine Dionysus depths of the sea. So the name comes from the French Beshevel "Baisse-Voile", which means "lowered the sails" because passing the castle of Jean-Louis de la Valette Nogaret, lower a little ships sail in homage to the legendary Admiral, and later governor of Guyenne.
