Dry white wine "Poggio Argentato" was first published in 1997. Since then, "Poggio Argentato" every season pleases with its freshness and balanced acidity. Cuvée of Sauvignon Blanc and Traminer, adapted to the microclimate of the Maremma, gives the wine a wonderful combination of French feminine style with a sunny terroir Marremy and elegant taste of berries with a large northern vineyard. Located at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level, the vineyard covers an area of 5 hectares of south-eastern exposure. Soils are mostly sandy. Age of vines varies from 10 to 21 years. The grapes are harvested in late August - early September. Fermentation takes place in a stainless steel tank at a controlled temperature of 18 ° C. To maintain a good acidity and preservation of fruit aromas carried out malolactic fermentation. Until February the wine is aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks, then filtered and stored until May bottled in the cellars of the winery. Average annual production of "Poggio Argentato" is 25,000 bottles.
History Fattoria Le Pupille closely linked with the name Elisabetta Geppetto, therefore no coincidence that on every bottle of wine produced at Le Pupille worth the name. In 1970 Fattoria Le Pupille was just small farmers who owned two hectares of Sangiovese, from which the small parties of good red wine. In 1978 was established Morellino di Scansano DOC and in the same year at Le Pupille made the first vintage of this wine. Elisabetta became personally engaged in the development and improvement of this small vineyard with a very clear purpose - to make great wines. The first vintages of 1982 and 1983 were made under the direction of renowned expert Giacomo Takis, and since 1985 Elisabetta Geppetto produces "Morellino di Scansano" yourself. In 1987, she creates a wine called Saffredi about vintage which in 2004 the famous wine critic magazine "Wine Advocate" Antonio Galloni says: "Owner Elisabetta Geppetto made many great wines, but their Saffredi 2004, she came to the apple." Since 1989, Elisabetta took the formation of the vineyards for future white wines: dry "Poggio Ardzhentato" and sweet "SolAlto."
Since the 1990 Fattoria Le Pupille has taken a strong position in the international wine market. Critics appreciated the magnificence of taste and consistency of quality wines, especially Saffredi, which can be found in the wine lists of the best restaurants around the world. However, Le Pupille did not stop there. Elisabetta Geppetto, establish in 1992 Morellino di Scansano Consortium, and became its first chairman, started looking for land for new vineyards and new varieties. Elisabetta work does not stop for a minute, she is constantly moving forward, making spectacular gains in winemaking. In 2006 the leading German magazine Der Feinschmecker and Wein Gourmet Elisabetta Geppetto awarded the title of "Winemaker of the Year", which made her the first woman to receive this award.
