Pinot Gris grown in Alsace, gives a rich fruity taste, has a rather high spiciness and that very unusual for Pinot Gris, it is recommended to withstand long enough, some experts even suggest a period of 30 years, while other wines from the Pinot Gris better to drink young.
The grapes for "Clos du Val d'Eleon" L'Ami de la Ter "is grown in the vineyard of 3.3 acres with twenty-year vines, located on the southern slope of the hill. The soils of gray slate give grapes mineral character. The low temperature summer of 2004 affected the timing of the harvest - the grapes are harvested in late October. After fermentation, the wine is aged 10 months in 100-year-old ancestral oak barrels.
