History Shateau Figeac (Chateau Figeac) starts from the II century AD, from the Gallo-Roman period, when the estate was named after a certain Figeacus. In the Renaissance, were built preserved to this day a three-story mansion and one of the ancient towers. Until the 18th century the estate for about 500 years belonged to the same family and was in possession of more than 200 hectares of land and vineyards. In the 19th century Chateau many times changed owners, who shared the estate into sections and were selling them, this explains the emergence of several farms that have in its name the name of Figeac. Part of the land formerly belonging to Shateau Figeac, now owned by another famous Chateau - Chateau Cheval Blanc. Today Chateau Figeac takes about 40 hectares of land and is the largest winery Saint Emilion. The vineyards are located on a gravel plateau in the western part of the municipality, a difference in the composition of rocky soils from other farms Saint-Emilion, and contain a higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, which is reflected in the style of wine farm, making them more saturated.
